"Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." -Lao Tzu
Why and how to use a classroom website?
The why? "Independent learning is when an individual is able to think, act and pursue their own studies without being prompted by an instructor or parent."(1) Students who take an active role in their own learning and become motivated through internal rewards or self gratification will carry this skill throughout their lives and be motivated adults.
Benefits of Independent Learning (2)
improved academic performance
increased motivation and confidence
greater student awareness of their limitations and their ability to manage them
enabling teachers to provide differentiated tasks for students
fostering social inclusion by countering alienation
The How? Click on the tabs at the top of the page (Home, Absent Directions, Mrs. Snow, 7th Grade Utah Studies, 9th Grade World History) They should answer all the of the questions you may have because they are based off of frequently asked questions.
